Hotspots are annotations to your 360° Scenes that give viewers a bit more information regarding points of interest within the scene, while making scenes feel more immersive and interactive. They can feature text, photos, videos, and links out to external pages.
In this article, we will explain how to add, edit, and reorder hotspots on your 360° Scenes, as well as best practises regarding number and placement of hotspots!
Adding and Editing Hotspots
Go to the Scenes tab in the navigation panel
Drill down into the project you want to focus on by clicking the arrow
Drill down into the group you want to focus on by clicking the arrow
Locate the 360° Scene that you want to add hotspots to, and click Edit
On your 360° Scene, scroll down to the Panorama Image, hover over the white, round + button, so that the words + Add Hotspot appear, and click
Drag the hotspot or click anywhere on the panorama to place it, and then click Save Placement
A new hotspot window will pop up, where you will need to give your hotspot a Title, fill out the Guide Card Content, and if you choose, add Guide Card Audio
Click Save Draft in the hotspot window to save your changes, and click Publish if you want to publish them
In the scene page, don't forget to Publish
A pop-up may appear asking if you want to Publish Scene and Hotspots or Publish Scene Only: make sure to click the first option if you want your hotspots to go live!
To add a hotspot without placing it first:
Click + Add a new hotspot
Fill out the required information in the hotspot window
Place your hotspot later by clicking Not Placed 📌
To re-place your hotspot somewhere else:
Click Placed 📌 to re-place your hotspot
Click Save Placement
To edit or delete a hotspot:
Click the name of the hotspot, and the hotspot window will open
Click Save Draft to save your changes, and click Publish if you want to publish them
From this drop-down menu, you can click Delete to delete a hotspot
Reordering Hotspots
You can reorder your hotspots to create a better user experience as you guide your visitors through your tour.
The order in which the hotspots appear on the scene is left to right, and top to bottom
For example:
To reorder your hotspots, click the 6 dot icon and drag it in the position you would like it to appear
Best Practices
Wondering how many hotspots to include on your 360° Scene? Post-analysis has revealed that on scenes with no hotspots, users will spend 12 seconds on the page; using 1 to 3 hotspots will increase the time to 19 seconds, and 4 or more hotspots will increase the time on page to over 26 seconds.
When placing your hotspots, choose a single direction you would like them to appear and order them so they flow in that direction. This will make the experience smoother as you are not moving the viewer's perspective back and forth!
