Understanding Tour Completion Analytics

Determine the difference between two metrics of tour completion in your Circuit analytics dashboard

In the Circuit Analytics Dashboard there are two metrics that provide insight in the rate at which visitors are completing your tours:

  1. The tour completion rate is calculated by dividing the # of tours completed, by the # of tours started. This metric can be found on the Engagement: Tour Metrics page.

  2. The % of engaged sessions with at least one finished tour event is calculated by dividing the # of engaged sessions with at least one finished tour event, by the total # of engaged sessions. This metric can be found on the Engagement: Feature Usage page.

When comparing the two sets of calculations, the % of engaged sessions with at least one finished tour event will always be higher than the tour completion rate because it is not accounting for the multiple tour start or finished tour events that may occur within one engaged session. Meanwhile the tour completion rate is calculated based on the triggered analytics events every time a user begins a tour within your Circuit experience and every time a user completes a tour within your Circuit experience, even if these events occur multiple times in the same engaged session.

Example
Imagine a dataset with 1 user who had 1 engaged session during which they started 3 of 3 published tours, but only completed 2 of them. The tour completion rate would be 66.67%, but the % of engaged sessions with at least one finished tour event would be 100%.

Analysis Recommendations

It is recommended to look at the tour completion rate when evaluating the quantity and quality of your tour content (e.g. are your tours the right length? do they have engaging content that encourages completion?).

It is recommended to look at the % of engaged sessions with at least one finished tour event when evaluating how engaged your audience is (e.g. Is your virtual tour content overall relevant to your audience? are you attracting your target audience?).
