Circuit Maps are fully interactive and built to replicate the buildings and landmarks that are important to your virtual tour. In this article, you will learn how to draw, edit, and delete polygons to outline the areas of your projects and groups.
Before you begin adding your projects and groups to your map, please reference our article on Organizing Scenes with Projects and Groups to learn about creating and naming them. What you name your projects and groups is very important, and has a large effect on how they function on the Circuit Map.
How do projects and groups function with Maps?
Adding your projects and groups to your map is essentially assigning the relationships between your buildings and your grounds. This helps your visitors differentiate what is a part of your space and what is not. Projects and groups are also like folders that organize your scenes and points of interest.
How your projects and groups will function depends on your naming system. For example:
If your projects are named based on your campuses, you will draw the polygon around the perimeter of that campus
If your groups are named based on the buildings on your campus, you will draw the polygon around the perimeter of that building
How to Add Existing Projects to your Map
From your homepage, click Maps in the left navigation panel and then Editor
To add a project to your map, locate the Project and click Edit
First, click and Choose an Image for your project, either from images already in your image gallery, or by uploading a new image
Then, double-check that your project Title is correct. Keep in mind that changing the title for a project here, in the Maps editor, will also change what it is titled in the Scenes section of the CMS
If applicable, click and Set a Feature Type for your project. You can either scroll through the options or use the search bar to search for a specific feature type
Add your project to the map by clicking Area:
When the Area button is highlighted purple, you will be able to draw the area for the project on the map
For example, if your project is a campus, you will want to draw the area around the perimeter of the campus
To draw, just continue clicking the map to draw points
Once you have drawn your shape, hit Enter on your keyboard to finish
You can readjust your points by clicking Area again and clicking and dragging the point you would like to readjust
Once you are satisfied with how you have drawn the area for your project on the map, click Save Draft or Publish, and then refresh the page
All Projects, Groups, Scenes, and Points of Interest will automatically default as hidden from the Places menu. If you want your project to show up in the menu, make sure you set it as shown:
How to Add Existing Groups to your Map
From your homepage, click Maps in the left navigation panel and then Editor
To add a group to your map, navigate into the Project that contains the group, locate it, and click Edit
Choose an Image for your group
Check the Title for your group, while keeping in mind that changes you make to the title will also change what it is titled in the Scenes section of the CMS
Set a feature type for the group. We recommend doing this for as many groups as possible. Click Set a Feature Type and either select one from the list, or search for one
The process for adding a group to the map is the same as a project, just keep in mind that rather than drawing the area as the perimeter of your space, you will be drawing the area around more specific areas in your space. Add your group to the map by clicking Area:
When the Area button is highlighted purple, you will be able to draw the area for the project on the map
For example, if your group is a building, you will want to draw the area around the building
To draw, just continue clicking the map to draw points
Once you have drawn your shape, hit Enter on your keyboard to finish
You can readjust your points by clicking Area again and clicking and dragging the point you would like to readjust
You can designate the main entrance of a group that represents a building by using the Point field. Learn more about this in our article Setting the Main Entrance of a Building.
Once you are satisfied with how you have drawn the area for your project on the map, click Save Draft or Publish, and then refresh the page
All Projects, Groups, Scenes, and Points of Interest will automatically default as hidden from the Places menu. If you want your group to show up in the menu, make sure you set it as shown.
