Adding scenes to your map allows users to better orient themselves within your tours and within your tour stops, while also bringing your scene contact front and centre on the Places Tab of the map.
In this article, you will learn how to add scenes to your map, which involves setting a feature type for the scene, adding it to the map, adjusting the placement of the point and removing it, as well as hiding and showing scenes from the places menu. 🗺️
Add a Scene to your Map
To add a scene to your map, you must first know which project or group your scene is located in. You can access your project and group organization by going to the Scenes section of the CMS. This is also where you can move a scene to a different group, or delete a scene altogether.
From your Circuit CMS homepage, click Maps on the left navigation menu, and click Editor
Navigate to the project and group your scene is contained in
Hover over the Edit button for the scene, and you should see the option to Map or Edit. Click this button.
Images for scenes are automatically generated based on the visual content within the scene, so you don’t have to set an image
Double-check the Title of your scene, keeping in mind that any changes you make to the title here will change what the scene is called everywhere else in your virtual tour
Click Add a Feature Type if one is applicable, though not required
Click Point under Map Feature to add the scene to your map. To place the scene somewhere else, click Point, and then click somewhere new on the map
To remove a scene from the map, click the Trash can icon next to the Point button
If you have not yet set what direction is North on the scene, click North is not set, click and drag around the scene to adjust the North line, and click Set North
Save Draft to save your changes, or Publish to publish them
How do I show or hide my scene in the Map Navigation Menu?
Scenes will automatically be hidden from the visitor’s menu, and greyed slightly. To show a scene on the map menu, click the on the eye button for that scene. We suggest showing projects, groups, and scenes after they have been customized and placed on the map.
Keep in mind that even if something is hidden in the navigation menu, if it has been added to the map and published, it will be visible on the map.
How do I add a scene to an area that isn't within a mapped group or project?
You can only add scenes to the map if they are within projects or groups that have been added to the map. Add the scene to an actively mapped group, or create a new group and map it, and you will be able to add the scene to your map.
