Points of Interest (also referred to as points or POI) make it possible for you to add content to your map that is not first created as a scene or tour. With POI, visitors are able to learn where different points of interest are, such as parking lots, washrooms, accessible entrances, parks, bus stops, bike storage, and more.
In this article, you will learn how to create and customize points, and add them to your map. You will also learn how to show and hide points from the map menu, as well as move and delete points within the CMS. 🗺️
Add Points of Interest to your Map
From your homepage, click Maps in the left navigation panel and then Editor
Navigate into the project or group you would like to add your point. Check out our article on Organizing Projects and Groups to learn more about how your projects and groups should be named. This will help you figure out where to put your points of interest
Hover over the + button at the bottom right of your screen, and from the new options that appear, select Point
Choose an Image for your point, if you wish
Give your point a Title
Set a feature type for the point. Click Set a Feature Type and either select one from the list, or search for one
To place or replace the point, under Map Feature in the editing window, click Point, and then click somewhere new on the map
To remove a point from the map, just click the Trash can icon next to the Point button
Once you are satisfied with your point, click Save Draft or Publish, and refresh your browser.
How do I show or hide my point in the Map Navigation Menu?
Points of Interest created in the Map Editor will automatically be shown in the navigation menu. To show or hide a point on the map menu, click the on the eye button for that point. We suggest showing projects, groups, and scenes after they have been customized and placed on the map.
Showing POI is up to you. If you have many Points of Interest on your map, consider only showing the ones you believe are most important in the Map Menu to keep it from becoming cluttered.
Keep in mind that even if something is hidden in the navigation menu, if it has been added to the map and published, it will be visible on the map.
How do I permanently delete a point?
You cannot permanently delete a point in the Maps Editor. Follow these steps to delete a point:
From your homepage, click Scenes in the left navigation panel
Navigate to where your point is that you want to delete
On the point, click More and then Delete to delete it permanently
How do I move a point into a different project or group?
You can move a point to a different project or group in the same way that you would with a scene. Check out our article on organizing scenes and follow the same process to reorganize a point.
