The panoramic images and 2D images you use to create your tour will keep your visitors aware of what your spaces look like and able to picture themselves in these spaces. Images are used to make your tour visually interesting on your homepage, within your tours, and they are also the foundation of your scenes. πΈ
In this article, you will learn how to upload and edit images within the Image Gallery, add and replace images within scenes, add splash screen images, and add tour group and homepage images.
The Image Gallery
Uploading Images
From your homepage, go to Images in the left navigation panel
In the top right corner of your screen, click + Add an Image
Choose which collection to add your image or images to. If you are unsure, stick to Default
You can drag and drop images into the grey area to upload them, or click + Choose From Your Computer to open a new window and select them yourself
Once an image has uploaded, from this same window, you will be able to Name it, add it to a specific Collection, and give it Tags. These steps are optional, but we do recommend naming all of the images you upload
Editing Images
From your homepage, go to Images in the left navigation panel
Locate the image you want to edit by Searching for it by name or file name, or look through the library manually. You can also sort by created collections and tags
When you have located the image you wish to edit, click on it
You can now edit the image title, replace the file, change its collection or tags, and add a focal point to the image
If the image is a panorama, you can also choose to Create New 360 Scene
Don't forget to Save your changes. You can also Delete the image from here
How do I add a focal point to an image?
In the image editing window, click and drag a box over the most important area of the image. When this image is set as a homepage image or tour group image, the layout will prioritize that area of the image.
On the Image Editing page in the CMS, you can add and update focal points on images:
Zoomed in further on the image itself, the focal point bounding box is drawn on top of the image like this:
After adding the focal point, the image focus will change in various places within your tour experience, such as on the tour detail page below. Note that this change can take up to 15 minutes to display on the live site. If you open your tour in an incognito/private browser window, it will reflect the latest changes.
Scenes
Adding an Image to a Scene
From the Scenes tab, either create a new scene or navigate to the scene you want to add images to, and click Edit
From the scene editing window, depending on what type of scene you have chosen, you will have different options:
Matterport Scenes can only have images added to their Guide Card Content. Click Image and then Choose an Image. You can then choose an image from your Image Library or Upload one from your computer directly
360 Scenes will require you to add a panoramic image by clicking Choose a Panoramic Image, as well as any images you may add to Guide Card Content and hotspots
Gallery Scenes will require you to add either an image or video by clicking + Add and then adding the main gallery Media. For every new gallery slide you add onto the gallery scene, you will need to add another image or video
How do I replace an image for a 360 scene?
From the scene editor, click the three dots icon. Three options will appear: Change this panorama, Edit this panorama, and Clear image. Click Change, and choose a new panorama to replace the old one.
Tours
Adding a Splash Screen Image and Logo
From your homepage, go to Tours in the left navigation panel
Locate the tour you want to add a Splash Screen Image to, and click Edit on that tour
In the tour editing window, you will default to the Content tab. Switch to the Splash Page tab by clicking it at the top of your screen
Scroll down to the Splash Image and Splash Logo sections and click to add a Splash Image, Splash Logo (and you can also select the Splash Colour)
Tour Groups
Adding a Homepage Image
The image you set for your primary tour group appears as the banner image visitors see when visiting your homepage. If they are viewing your virtual tour on desktop, and you have set a header video, they will see the video instead. However, it is still important to set a header image for mobile users, and in any case where the video may be unable to load (like if the visitor has an unstable Internet connection.)
From your homepage, go to Tours in the left navigation panel
Locate your primary tour group, which should be the main tour group that all of your other groups and tours are sorted into. Click Edit
In the tour editing window, you will default to the Content tab. Scroll down to the Image section and add the tour group image
Adding a Tour Group Image
Tour groups sorted within your primary tour group also require an image be added. This appears as a header for that tour group, and on the tour group card.
Follow the same steps outlined above, just be conscious that tour group images may appear differently depending on how the tour groups are organized within the CMS.
